Task 2: Case study:

JKB Bloggins Ltd is an industrial textile company that specializes in the design and manufacturing of industrial Textiles.

These suppliers are key suppliers to numerous global car manufacturing facilities.

Since 1980 when it began trading in the UK, JKB Bloggins Ltd has been a huge success.

JKB Bloggins Ltd, a global competitor, is looking to improve their competitiveness within the automotive market. As part of an expansion strategy, JKB Bloggins Ltd will introduce new technology and machinery to a UK manufacturing facility.

JKB Bloggins Ltd has appointed you as Project Manager to oversee this special project.

The Project budget of PS12 million pounds includes the purchase of and the construction of a manufacturing location. This site is located on the North-East coast and is open to all types of weather.

This new technology and machinery will need to be transferred from Asia. Staff training will be required and machines purchased in Asia.

Some team members may be recruited from outside sources.

The members will need to be trained in Asia for a minimum of 12 months to learn, experience and aid the implementation.

This project will involve the production of new orders and must be completed by March 2018.

You will be responsible for preparing a report as Project Manager.

The activities needed to manage the new initiative successfully from a project manager’s perspective.

The analysis should address the skills and competencies that the Project Manager requires, as well the project management process.

You can use examples to illustrate the problems, Project Life Cycle stages, processes and leadership as well as the administration and control issues associated with managing this large project’s lifecycle.

This particular project falls under the category of Equipment or system installation project.

This project’s implementation steps include planning, design, testing and evaluation.

Scope management refers to a set or processes that assure the scope or assumptions of project. They are clearly defined and mapped in project initiation.

Scope management techniques and tools are essential to collect the right and required works.

A proper scope management requires the involvement of the project manager and the supervision to the work.

The project scope must include the following steps: project planning, project managing, project closing.

These are the steps that the project manager must take to satisfy the customer’s needs within the budget and time constraints.
